About PCP

Patient Centered Psych (PCP) is a health and behavioral psychology practice dedicated to providing superior psychotherapeutic services to individuals in need of counseling who also have an underlying medical issue(s). Our psych services offered are twofold and include (1) on-site therapy for patients residing in long term-care, subacute rehabilitation settings, assisted and independent living, as well as (2) outpatient counseling via Teletherapy, which is ideal for individuals post discharge, or those within the community who have chronic or progressive medical issues and are in need of psych services. Populations served include but are not limited to individuals with traumatic brain injuries, paralysis, history of motor vehicle accident, amputation, multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, dementia, neurocognitive impairment, cancer, congestive heart failure, Colitis, Crohn’s disease, spinal stenosis, arthritis, diabetes, and conditions post operation.

Founded, owned and operated by Tiffany Tuttle PsyD, a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience specifically in the field of clinical and geropsych, PCP comprehensively understands how to successfully implement evidence based strategies that result in exceptional mental health treatment with measurable outcomes, to residents of nursing homes, extended care facilities and those who live within the community.

Patient Centered Psych is different from other behavioral providers in a number of important ways. We are a clinician led group that recognizes the various ways nursing home work combines health, behavioral, community and organizational psychology. We know that nursing homes and ALFs operate like mini-communities and each person employed or contracted plays a role in helping the larger system thrive. We understand that residents experience a multitude of emotions and we are experts on how a resident’s mood and behaviors are impacted by personal, neurocognitive, and environmental factors. The intersection of these factors refers to a person’s biopsychosocial make-up and PCP understands how the interplay of these dynamics effects mental and behavioral health and disease.

Additionally, Patient Centered Psych works closely with nursing home administrative staff and recognizes the importance of reliability. Maintaining a consistent schedule, completing and documenting all assessments, capacity evaluations, follow-ups, behavioral plans, and emergency hospitalizations for patients referred by your facility is critical not just for patient care, but for compliance with state guidelines and mandates. PCP recognizes that this translates to sometimes needing to handle urgent situations and visiting a facility after hours.

Should you be in need of both psychological services for your residents and psychiatric medication management, PCP can fulfill this requirement. Patient Centered Psych has partnered with the highly esteemed, expert Physician Assistant (PA) clinicians of Converge Mental Wellness, enabling us to offer your facility’s residents a full spectrum of mental health services.

Additionally, at Patient Centered Psych we seek to empower facilities to know they have options when it comes to hiring a practice to manage their provision of psychological care. Facilities are not obligated to hire a large corporation to fulfill the psych coverage needs of residents and instead can successfully work with a small group practice, consisting of local clinicians who will provide your residents with the 1 on 1 care and attention they need to achieve and maintain improvements in their mood, behavior and overall well-being.

By working with a group that is clinician led, you can be assured that best practices will always be focused on delivering exceptional patient care. Please email admin@patientcenteredpsych.com if you’d like to learn more about working with PCP and to schedule an in person or phone meeting. We welcome the opportunity to connect and to show you that Patient Centered Psych is where head and heart converge!

Journey of my life

PCP's ORIGIN STORY

I received my doctorate degree in clinical and humanistic psychology in 2008 and in 2009 I completed my post-doctoral internship in Texas where I worked providing geropsychological services to older adults with underlying medical issues. I then moved back to Michigan and became the program manager for the senior services division at a large non-profit in Detroit. I learned a great deal from this role but missed doing clinical work and from 2011 – 2023 I worked for a company operated by a psychologist that provided psych services to nursing home residents. This company sold and I noticed a trend that did not sit well with me. Venture capitalists, teams of lawyers and other non-clinical and non-medically trained individuals were purchasing psych groups and overseeing the provision of care provided by psychologists and psychiatric prescribers working in nursing homes. I believe and know that cross collaboration with experts in diverse fields can make a business thrive, however, in dealing with complex matters related to facilitating mental health treatment and psychiatric care, I most trust clinical experts to manage and oversee the delivery of patient services. My drive to be a champion for this specialized population and passion to provide them with the best clinical care, led me to start Patient Centered Psych.

Patient Centered Psych is owned and operated by a psychologist. We are based in Southeastern Michigan and we do not have a goal or intent to expand to different states or create a national presence. Rather, our focus is on providing exceptional mental health services to individuals in our own community, the same community we are a part of and share with you. We are truly patient driven and by being a boutique clinical group whose niche is health and behavioral psych services, we can offer your facility the real 1 on 1 attention and care that we know it takes to comprehensively meet your resident’s mental health needs. As it relates to outpatient services, our dedication and commitment to providing you with the best psychological treatment available, remains our gold standard.
